The Healthy Lifestyles work is a health Promotion campaign being led by Dietitians in the SEC&L and NW networks.
The aim is to improve knowledge about diet and lifestyle habits that can support health and wellbeing and a reduction in cardiovascular risk factors for CYP and their families.
We would like to encourage teams to run each topic as a campaign.
- Start with completing the baseline questionnaire, new and improved for 2025.
- Improve the knowledge of the whole MDT, spark debate and encouraging mini-interventions by the team during clinic through delivering educational presentations.
- Share resources via social media, outpatient TV screens, posters, leaflets
- Use resources alongside routine dietetic input
Topics for the First Year of the Campaign
– Endorsed by the National Network and the Paediatric Subgroup of the BDA
Topics for the Second Year of the Campaign (COMING SOON)
Resources available for each campaign topic:
- An MDT training presentation
- Clinic posters / clinic powerpoint for TV screens
- Monthly Digibete / digital newsletters
- Links to external resources through out
We currently have the base line questionnaire open on survey monkey for teams to give to their CYP to complete prior to the resource launch.
Resources produced can also be used as a toolkit for dietitians. They will be available on this CYP Diabetes network webpage as they become available. To see examples, see the link to the project slides.
Our long-term aim is to have the resources endorsed by the national Diabetes Dietitians Network group / BDA to reduce the governance burden of each service introducing them. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
