The first Improving Quality Together ‘Silver Level’ trainees met in Llandrindod Well on 10 May to start the Network’s quality improvement training programme. Improving Quality Together is the national training programme for NHS Wales that incorporates a quality improvement project as part of the Silver Level accreditation.

Staff from across Wales attended the training, identifying projects that will benefit them in their day-to-day provision of care to children and young people. Sample proposed projects include engaging with young people who miss clinic appointments and introducing virtual clinics.

The training day included an introduction to several quality techniques including process mapping. It also introduced key concepts such as the Model for Improvement, Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles, and managing change.

Staff will meet again in June and July and present the outcomes of their quallity improvement projects at the September Network Meeting in Carmarthen.
