3.     Staff Information

a.    Self-Assessment

Now open, please check your login details and ensure that you are able to view your unit. Last year’s submission will remain on the system, meaning that this year’s submission should be simpler as you’ll only need to amend anything that has changed.

b.   Peer reviewers wanted

There will be another training event for peer reviewers in September in Birmingham. The date has yet to be released, please use the following link complete the application form.

c.    National website update

The Welsh government has agreed to pay for phase 1 of the development of the new national website which will be developed by Digibete. The national website will maintain its own branding and current web domain and is due to be launched July 2019.

Phase 2 will include a HCP forum, which will allow network members to liaise with all members of the national network; this will promote sharing of best practice. The ongoing costs are minimal and less than the current website fees.

d.      Block/Aligned Incentive Contracts

A number of Paediatric units across England have moved away from BPT and are now on aligned incentive contracts. If your Trust is considering this change, our advice would be to negotiate into the terms of the contract that your unit will continue to meet BPT criteria in order to receive funding. This ensures continued commitment to BPT standards and membership to the national network.

e.      Parent and carer representatives wanted

Do you have a suitable parent/carer of a child with type 1 diabetes within your service? We are looking for parent/carers from the Thames Valley area to join the Children and Young Peoples Diabetes Network as parent/carer representatives.
